A striking pair of vintage Murano glass wall sconces, composed of individually handblown glass leaves layered into luminous, sculptural arrangements.
Each leaf was formed by hand, giving every piece its own subtle variations in shape, texture, thickness and movement. No two leaves are exactly alike — small irregularities and differences are inherent to the handblown process and are part of what gives the sconces their distinctive character.
The translucent ice glass is softly textured and traced with a warm amber-gold detail through its centre. Illuminated from within, the overlapping leaves catch and diffuse the light, shifting from cool, crystalline transparency in daylight to a rich golden glow after dark.
The organic composition has an almost floral quality — somewhere between petals, leaves and fragments of ice. Viewed from different angles, the individual forms overlap and separate, giving the sconces a sense of depth and movement.
Beautiful illuminated, but equally sculptural when switched off.
