Design Pollas

Denmark 1970s

A highly sculptural Danish ceramic tea set by Ove Pollas for Pollas Design, dating from the 1970s.

With its wonderfully exaggerated handles, organic curves and warm speckled glaze, this exceptional set perfectly captures the playful and experimental character of Scandinavian design during the period.

The centrepiece is the striking lidded teapot, distinguished by its dramatic sculptural spout and large looping handle. The teapot rests on its original matching ceramic warmer, whose vertical openings add an architectural element to the composition.

Accompanying the teapot are five matching ceramic cups, each featuring Pollas’ characteristic oversized looped handle. Viewed together, the pieces have an almost anthropomorphic quality, transforming a functional tea service into a remarkably expressive group of sculptural objects.

The entire set is finished in a subtle cream/off-white glaze with fine natural speckling, allowing the unusual silhouettes to take centre stage.

Designed in Denmark during the 1970s, Pollas Design ceramics are increasingly appreciated for their unconventional forms and distinctive approach to everyday objects.

The set comprises:

  • 1 lidded teapot
  • 1 ceramic teapot warmer
  • 5 matching cups
