A striking example of Italian radical design, the Screen wall lamp transforms light into architecture. Designed by Fabrizio Cocchia and Gianfranco Fini for New Lamp in the early 1970s, the composition consists of layered square metal panels that appear to float away from the wall, creating an ever-changing interplay of depth, reflection, and illumination. Four mirrored bulbs emerge through the front panel, casting a warm halo that seems to dissolve the geometry into light.

Minimal in form yet sculptural in presence, Screen blurs the line between functional lighting and kinetic wall art. The contrasting finishes—brushed metal, polished reflective surfaces, and the hidden illuminated rear panel—create a sophisticated dialogue of shadow, glow, and reflection that shifts with every viewing angle.

Produced during New Lamp’s brief but influential period of experimentation, Screen stands as one of the company’s most iconic and collectible designs, embodying the bold optimism and avant-garde spirit of Italian lighting in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The model is documented in Luce: Lampade 1968–1973 – Il Nuovo Design Italiano by Fulvio and Napoleone Ferrari.
